Vinted Users Voice Frustration Regarding Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Digital Channels Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Measurement Approach Updates

Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Stories

One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
