Unbowed Nancy shows no fear of being fired but Celtic fans show fury after loss.

Wilfried Nancy declared he had no concerns about dismissal, maintaining, “We are very near to a turnaround,” even after moving dangerously close to being fired with a convincing loss to the Ibrox side.

A Second-Half Collapse Leads to Derby Disaster

The home side had led their oldest rivals at half-time but a disastrous second period let the Gers to draw level on points with the reigning league title holders. Nancy, who was brought in in December, has now overseen six losses in his first eight games.

“There is unity at the club,” stated the manager.

Asked directly about whether he was concerned, Nancy said: “I don’t think about it. My focus is on finding ways to aid my players to improve on details.

Supporters' Anger On Display

Celtic’s support made their feelings clear – directed at the dugout and directors – in their hundreds at full time. The hierarchy would be most likely to return to Martin O’Neill, who had a fruitful temporary stint previously, if Nancy departs.

“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. And that’s the reality for the moment. However in stating this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am a defeatist guy. No. What I mean the turnaround is near, imminently close to reverse our form.”

Focus on the Details

He continues to cling to the fact his team play well for a half at a time. For instance, but for wastefulness in front of goal they might have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives aside from the fact that we haven’t scored our chances,” he said. “I acknowledge that we lost, but I have also to be objective.

“The level we had at times was of top quality. That happened. And I would not speak so positively if it was different. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I noted we've seen this before. For that reason I believe a change is coming to a shift in fortunes. Currently: small things.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, once more. The issue now comes down to sustaining it. My narrative would not be if I didn't believe it. This is why I firmly believe the team can to get back on track.”

The Rangers Boss Response

The victorious boss refused to contemplate a championship push even after what appeared to be a statement victory. “We take it game by game, so we can develop something here,” he said. “The confidence in the group is outstanding.”
