In the final seconds, unbridled joy erupted for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and gifted the temporary Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane could be billed as the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to warm the 40-year-old for years to come.

A Stark Contrast in Pedigree

On the home bench stood the era's defining coach, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a one-time trainer at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and arrived to make his first-team debut after being seconded from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
