Presence
Soderbergh pushes his directorial skills with this clever supernatural story captured wholly from the viewpoint of a ghost. When a household featuring mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe settles into their new suburban house, the lens – as the unseen entity – follows them around. The daughter appears conscious of the ghostly being, and it looks like defensive toward her. Yet what is the reason? This Creepy Thriller
Scott Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller stands strong even without a continuation. Taking place in 1978 Denver, a series of kidnappings has left the local kids on edge. Yet the old telephone on the wall continues to ring, with ghostly voices providing assistance, and the prescient dreams of Gwen, his sister might rescue him. An effective horror. The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for greed in Showalter's delightfully tacky true story regarding the shamed TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals begin profiting from the American public's spiritual convictions. It's a riot of bad interior design, bad makeup and hypocrisy, though Jessica Chastain succeeds to show Tammy Faye in a likable light. October 14th, early morning, the Film4 channel
