AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre partnership that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a clandestine sect.
The mission focuses on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Transformations
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Material
Players who accomplish the adventure will receive an special katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
